Grade book
A straightforward grade book: one row per student, one column per assignment, and category weights you control. Totals are plain arithmetic — press "Steps" on any student to see exactly how their weighted overall was computed, line by line. Empty cells are left out of the math rather than counted as zeros.
Class average: —
| Student | Homework 1Homework / 20 | Homework 2Homework / 20 | Quiz 1Quiz / 50 | Unit Test 1Test / 100 | Overall | Letter | ||

Category weights
Weights are rescaled over the categories that actually have graded work — you don't need them to sum to 100.
How the weighted total works
- Each graded cell becomes a percentage: score ÷ max score.
- Percentages are averaged within their category (homework, quiz, test, project).
- Each category average is multiplied by its weight.
- Contributions are added up and rescaled over the weight that actually has graded work.
The letter next to each total is a standard 10-point-scale mapping — many schools and districts use their own scales, so treat it as a quick reference, not a policy. The grade book is a recording and arithmetic tool only; it doesn't evaluate teaching or predict outcomes. Keep your records backed up — data lives in your browser only.
